has been representing contemporary Thai artists in both Thailand and around the
world for a decade; in addition, the Gallery has continuously brought
international artists to our premier Bangkok platform, among them Yayoi Kusama,
Damien Hirst, Yoshihiro Suda, and—upcoming—Erwin Wurm, one of the most
globally celebrated contemporary artists of our day.
In November this
year, we proudly present The Discipline of Subjectivity, the
first solo exhibition in Southeast Asia by Erwin Wurm. This exhibition
comprises three series of Wurm’s work as part of One Minute Sculpture
Forever, a development of his well-known One Minute Sculpture series
which is created on the occasion of 10th Anniversary of 100 Tonson
Gallery, Cucumber, one of Wurm’s best known series and Sausage, a new
series which will be first launched here. The show is curated by Jakraphun
Thanateeranon.
Erwin Wurm is an
Austria-based who is best known for his ongoing series One Minute Sculpture
employing everyday objects, chance participants, and found, or site-specific
backgrounds. Among Wurm’s more familiar works are Fat House, Fat Car,
Narrow House, Melting House, Cucumber, and Desperate
Philosopher. Moreover, Wurm's works are part of prestigious collections
worldwide, including Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Museum Ludwig, Kunstmuseum
St. Gallen, National Museum of Art, Osaka, Musee d’Art Contemporain de Lyon,
and the Centre Pompidou, etc.
The Discipline of
Subjectivity exhibition will be on view from 14 November 2013 – 5 January 2014.
The opening reception will be on Thursday, 19 December 2013, at 7 pm.
